Moscow Mayor Luzhkov To Visit Kiev
MOSCOW, Russia -- Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov is off to Kiev to celebrate Viktor Yanukovych’s 60th birthday on July 9.
It will be Luzhkov's first trip to Ukraine since his persona-non-grata status was lifted in early June, RIA Novosti reported.
Luzhkov was declared unwelcome for his remarks about the status of Crimean port town Sevastopol.
In an article in Izvestiay newspaper Luzhkov wrote that Ukraine had to “give back what did not belong to it,” meaning the Crimea peninsula and Sevastopol.
Other Russian political figures in Ukrainian bad books were State Duma members Vladimir Zhirinovsky and Konstantin Zatulin.
