Disaster back-up fund to be created in Kyiv

A material reserve to prevent and liquidate emergency situations is to be formed in Kyiv, according to a resolution signed by Kyiv Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky.

The document is aimed at preventing and liquidating human-caused and natural emergency situations, minimizing possible material losses during disasters, and rendering first aid to the population, the press service of Kyiv City Administration reported.

The resolution approves the procedure for creating and using the reserve. According to the resolution, the reserve is to include construction materials, fuel, medical products, food, equipment, and the technical means necessary to carry out urgent restoration work.

The document also includes recommendations to heads of potentially dangerous enterprises, establishments and organizations, and other facilities of Kyiv, to stipulate the volumes of material reserve they might require, in line with the established procedure, proceeding from the most probable emergency situations they might face, and to accumulate reserves on site
