Liberal opposition party Yabloko are putting forward Grigory Yavlinksy for the March 2012 presidential race and not party chairman Sergei Mitrokhin.
The party does not have any State Duma seats and caused controversy earlier this year when one of its members attended a vigil to murdered football fan, Yegor Sviridov, whose death and remembrance of which become associated with nationalism.
Speaking at a press conference in Vladimir on Thursday party chairman Sergei Mitrokhin announced that Yavlinsky would represent the party.
“I am still quite young, of course, I have personal ambitions but my head controls them,” Mitrokhin said, Interfax reported, cited by Lenta.
