Volgograd resident faces the heat after throwing a snowball at United Russia poster
Police in Volgograd have arrested a man for throwing a snowball at a poster of the ruling United Russia party.
Sergei Dyachenko was seized, taken to a police station and strip-searched after officers apprehended him defacing the party’s image, accusing him of extremism and threatened to hand him over to the FSB, his friend Boris Stikhin told opposition news .
Dyachenko returned home late from work and threw the offending snowball at the poster but was spotted by police. He was taken to a nearby police station, before being transferred to another police station an hour and a half later, where he was stripped to his underpants, finger-printed and interrogated.
Officers accused him of regularly smearing paint on United Russia and found a stain on his jacket, which they confiscated. His house was then searched and all paint there was seized.
Stikhin says his friend was insulted, charged with extremism and threatened with being turned over to the FSB.
