The second deepest metro station in the world opens in St. Petersburg
A new metro station – Admiralteiskaya – opens in St. Petersburg today. The station, which is located on corner of Malaya Morskaya Ulitsa and Kirpichny Pereulok, is the world’s second deepest as over 100 meters below ground. The station is part of the No. 5 line. The world's deepest metro station is located in Kiev.

Plushchenko quits A Just Russia
Just two days before the State Duma elections on Dec. 4, Olympic champion figure skater and St. Petersburg legislative assembly deputy, Yevgeny Plushchenko, has announced that he has quit A Just Russia party. Plushchenko was not included on the party’s voting list for the elections. He said he regretted not making his announcement earlier as “unfortunately, he did not have time. Plushchenko became a deputy in 2007, but rarely attended the parliamentary sessions.
