Russia blocks UN resolution on Aleppo air strikes
Russia has vetoed the resolution condemning the air strikes conducted by the Syrian government against civilian population of the city of Aleppo.
A representative of the United Nations said that the Russian delegation introduced amendments to the statement prepared by Britain. Russian officials removed the mentioning of what happened in Aleppo from the document. As a result, members of the UN Security Council failed to finalize the text of the statement.
It is worth noting that this is the second case when Russian diplomats block statements about airstrikes on Aleppo. On December 19 last year, they rejected the document, which condemned attacks of government troops against civilians in the city.
