Medvedev proposes unified currency for Eurasia union
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has proposed that a unified currency be considered for the Eurasian Economic Union, which is planned to be created on Jan. 1, 2015.
"You need to think further, to think on the scale of the Eurasian union, to which we are headed and which should start from 2015, including such matters which have, perhaps, not been the subject of ongoing discussions, but you need to think about it, especially given the instability in global markets, I mean the issue of introducing some kind of accounting unit, and ultimately, perhaps, leading to a single currency,"
said at an economic conference on Friday.
