Medvedev addresses CIS delegates.

Dmitry Medvedev met with delegates to the Tenth Meeting of Directors of the CIS Member States' Security and Intelligence Services.
It is particularly important for the special services to have a high level of cooperation and coordination to help them address a wide range of tasks during the crisis period, the President said in his remarks at the meeting.
The crisis is affecting almost all of the CIS countries, Mr Medvedev said, and it is important for them to come up with joint responses. The crisis exacerbates domestic problems and also gives rise to people seeking to profit from it or use it to serve their own political aims.
Along with existing threats such as international terrorism, political and religious extremism, trans-border crime and drug trafficking, there are also other challenges that require close cooperation between the special services. They include, in particular, issues related to migration and to cyber-crime in the financial field.
The President said that the meeting’s results and the conclusions reached by the CIS countries’ security and intelligence agency directors are all the more important for him with the G20 summit coming up in Pittsburgh, which will examine various means of tackling the crisis, including in the areas that come under the special services’ responsibility.
