Yanukovych promises to take into account Venice Commission's remarks on judicial reform

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has promised that Kyiv will take into account the Venice Commission's remarks about Ukraine's law on the judicial system and the status of judges.

During a meeting with the chairman of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), Gianni Buquicchio, and secretary of the Commission, Thomas Markert, Yanukovych said that Ukraine intends to continue its active and constructive cooperation with the Venice Commission, the presidential press service said on Thursday

The president briefed the representatives of the Venice Commission about Ukraine's efforts to build a fair, free and independent judicial system, and pledged, in particular, that in future the country will take into account the Venice Commission's comments on the law of Ukraine on the judicial system and status of judges, the press service said.
