More than 100 Russian airlines, including national carrier Aeroflot, could be banned from European airports in 2012 unless they clean up their environmental act.
The European Union has listed 4,000 international carriers which have work to do to meet new carbon dioxide targets ahead of legislation which comes into force on January 1, 2012, RIA Novosti reports.
The current list is a warning to airlines about the need to comply with the new rules or face losing out on lucrative Euro-routes.
