Fighting around Donetsk airport continues

Combat actions with the use of heavy artillery were conducted around the Donetsk airport on July 10 overnight. "People in many areas, at around 20:15 could hear the sounds of low flying aircraft. Large military equipment was seen on central highways," RIA Novosti reported with reference to the city administration. The area near the airport remains dangerous. Public transport was disabled on the territory of five kilometers around the airport. At night of July 10, the army of the People's Republic of Donetsk surrounded the airport of Donetsk. A battalion of militia conducted a reconnaissance operation, which showed that the Ukrainian military continued to control the territory of the airport, while being blocked there. There are approximately 350-500 National Guard fighters and militants of private military companies staying on the territory of the airport. Meanwhile, militias of the breakaway republics make plans for the future that they see in the arrangement of peaceful life in the unrecognized region. The head of the People's Republic of Luhansk, Valery Bolotov, believes that the authorities and residents of the republic have all opportunities to turn their territory into "little Switzerland," reports Russia 24 TV channel. "I think that residents of the People's Republic of Luhansk will live well, I believe in it. We will make every effort to ensure that. I think we can create a little Switzerland. We have the potential, opportunities and hardworking people for that," said Valery Bolotov.
