Ukraine Travel Agency Offers Tickets To Heaven And Hell

KIEV, Ukraine -- Just when you thought you had heard the craziest news about the possibility of an apocalypse on December 21, 2012, along comes another story. A Ukraine travel agency, selling tickets for exclusive tours to Heaven and Hell. Recently Digital Journal reported on some humorous survival kits being sold in Mexico and Russia, as fun stocking-fillers for Christmas. Now a Ukraine-based travel agency has come up with an idea to get into the action, selling VIP end-of-the-world tours to Heaven and Hell. Tickets to hell are more expensive, apparently, and the agency explains that this is because the company is better there. Also, the trip to Hell is on offer for those who "like it hot." Those traveling to Hell will receive a mention on the “Scriptures of Satan,” a ticket to “freefall to Hell,” a pass to travel around the place and a survival guide. The trip to Hell will knock you back $18, while an all-inclusive ticket to Heaven costs a mere $15. According to the website, "The Heaven All Inclusive package comes with a pre-booked place in paradise and a first-class flight to that destination on Dec. 21, an ID card “so that nobody bothers you,” and a travel guide." As with the end-of-the-world survival kits, this travel offer must be taken with a pinch of salt. While many still think that according to the Mayan calendar, December 21, 2012 will mark the end of the world as we know it, predictions of impending doom are apparently not found in any of the classic Maya accounts. Those in the know say that the idea that the Long Count calendar "ends" in 2012 misrepresents Maya history and culture entirely. When a RIA Novosti reporter phoned the number on the tour operator's website, the girl who answered said “We made it just for fun.” Olga, who refused to give her last name, said that a lot of clients enjoy the joke, but they have received calls from people who take the offer seriously and feel offended.
