NATO Secretary General Concerned About Tymoshenko's Treatment

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has expressed alarm at the situation around former Ukrainian premier Yulia Tymoshenko.
He will unlikely visit Ukraine during the Euro 2012 European football championship due to a lack of time.

However, despite this fact: "I’m deeply alarmed at the treatment of Tymoshenko by the Ukrainian government,” he said in an interview with the German publication Bild.

Rasmussen said during a conversation with Ukrainian partners that Ukraine should guarantee observation of human rights and judicial independence.

It was reported earlier that the Delegation of the European Commission in Ukraine had declared that none of the European commissioners would attend UEFA Euro 2012 ceremonies and events in Ukraine, and a number of European policymakers also signaled this intention.
