President Vladimir Putin visits Hannover Messe as guest of honour

On Sunday, 7th of April 2013, President Vladimir Putin joins the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, at the opening ceremony of the industrial exhibition "Hannover Messe" in the Federal Republic of Germany. More than 160 companies have been invited to exhibit their latest industrial productions, including 11 specialized exhibitions. The Russian Federation is taking part for the second time. More than 100 Russian companies are participating with overall exhibition space of 3.000 square metres. The Russian motto is "Global Industry", according to the Russian Federation's investment and modernization programme. Because 2013 is the year of cultural and economic exchanges between the Russian Federation and the Federal Republic of Germany, President Vladimir Putin has been invited as guest of honour. He will attend the Hannover Messe for two days.

Heiljongjiang's trade with neighbouring Russia pertains to the fields of agriculture, energy, forestry, infrastructure and logistics.

Russia's Arctic Council Meeting From the 9th to 11th of April 2013, Russia's Arctic Council meets in Salekhard, the administrative centre of the Yamalo-Nenets Okrug in Russia. The town of 42.500 inhabitants lies close to the Polar Circle. The delegates will discuss the development and preservation of natural resources in the Arctic region. Security of navigation on the Northern Sea Route is another topic on their agenda. The participants of the meeting will also visit Franz-Joseph-Land, to see the results of environment purification, undertaken by the Russian Government. The archipelago of Franz-Joseph-Land is located in the Arctic Ocean, north of Novaya Zemlya. It consists of 191 islands with a total area of 16.134 square metres. In addition, the delegates will have the opportunity of visiting the maternity hospital for polar bears on Wrangel Island, situated in the Arctic Ocean between the Chukhchi Sea and the East Siberian Sea. This island is a part of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.

In 1994, three Russian companies started a Russian national domain. The Russian Research Institute for Public Networks guaranteed them administrative and technical support. Today, the .ru zone has 4.47 million registered domains. The Russian segment includes a Cyrillic zone, where users can read sites in the Russian language. The Cyrillic zone .rf has nearly one million registered domain names in the Russian language.

Russian artist Pridanov on display in India

Russian artist Pridanov on display in India Maxim Pridanov's "World View" is exhibited at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Delhi, 24 Ferozeshah Road, until the 12th of April 2013. The Russian painter, Maxim Pridanov, was born in Nizhni Novgorod, in 1965. He is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. His artwork is known for its dreamlike quality. "My Russia is kind, colourful and dreamlike," Maxim Pridanov said at the opening of his exhibition in Delhi. During his stay in India, the artist sketched the Taj Mahal and the Tomb of Akbar the Great in Agra for his next exhibition "World View".

Elvira Nabiullina approved as Chairperson of Russian Bank

Elvira Nabiullina approved as Chairperson of Russian Bank The economist, Elvira Sakiphzadovna Nabiullina, has been approved by the Russian State Duma as Chairperson of the Russian Bank and will take office on the 24th of June 2013. She was born in Ufa, Bashkortostan, on the 29th of October 1963, of Tatar descent. After graduating from the Lomonosov State University in Moscow, she gained a PhD in Economics, in 1990. Stations of her career were the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Russian Ministry for Economic Development and Trade, and Sberbank. In 2008, Elvira Nabiullina was appointed as Minister for Economic Development and Trade. When Vladimir Putin was re-elected for his third term as President of the Russian Federation, in 2012, she joined his advisory committee as presidential aide. Elvira Nabiullina speaks fluent English and French. She received the medal of honour "For Services to the Fatherland", 2nd degree, in 2003, and 1st degree, in 2006.

Russian air defence systems exhibited in Brazil Russian air defence systems are shown at the 9th Latin American International Defence and Security Exhibition (LAAD) in Rio de Janeiro, from the 9th to 12th of April 2013. They are generating great interest, as Alexander Fomin, Director of Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, reported. More than 720 companies from 60 countries are participating in LAAD 2013 at the Riocenter, and about 30.000 visitors are expected. LAAD is a biennial event in Brazil, which brings together Brazilian and international companies, specialized in supplying equipment, services and technology to the Armed Forces, Special Forces, Police and Security Services.
